Do you offer evening or weekend appointments?

Yes, we have clinicians who are available on Saturdays and Sundays.
We can also offer appointments before or after work on week days.

Will you be able to explain what the best therapy is for me?

Yes. Our phones are always answered by an experienced clinician who will discuss your difficulties and explain to you the most appropriate treatments and the different approaches and options that are available.

What happens if I do not want to pursue further intervention after the Initial Consultation or phone call?

You are under no obligation to take up the recommendations of the phone call or Initial Consultation and we will be happy to talk through your wishes at any time.

Do I have to attend sessions at the same time each week?

We will be as flexible as we can in the appointments we offer you, but it is generally helpful to the therapeutic process to have the regular appointments.

Will you write to my doctor or employer about me?

We are happy to be guided by you as to whom you would like to be kept informed of your progress. If you are referred by a GP or employer it is usual procedure to keep the referrer involved of your progress but we will only do this if we have your permission.

Can I choose which practitioner I see?

Yes, as long as you and your chosen practitioner can agree on a mutually-convenient appointment time. We sometimes have waiting lists, and it is therefore possible that there will be a wait to see your chosen practitioner. We will inform you of the approximate waiting time, and advise you of alternatives if this is unacceptable to you. We have both male and female practitioners and we are happy to accommodate your preference if we are able.

Do I have to lay on a couch for therapy?

No. This is only required in adult (and occasionally adolescent) psychoanalytic psychotherapy. Most of our clinicians do not use this method of therapeutic intervention, although this is available if required.

Will you hypnotise me?

No. We do not offer clinical hypnotism.

How many sessions will I need?

We can only give an indication of this after an initial assessment, following which we will discuss a treatment plan. Therapy can be as short as one consultation, or it can occur over months to years for more severe difficulties. We would advise you early on in your therapy as to what the timescales are likely to be.

Will my therapy be confidential?

All the practitioners are bound by strict Codes of Conduct and Ethics in relation to confidentiality. Under no circumstances will we ever breach your confidentiality without your consent.  The only exception to this is if there is a serious issue of risk to yourself or someone else.
