Alix is an integrative child & adolescent psychotherapist with over 10 years' experience of specialist working with children, young people and families. Alix believes in the importance of the therapeutic relationship, meeting the child or young person where they are at, learning about their world and what it is like to be them. Alix is keen to facilitate long-term internalised change therefore supports a therapeutic process that requires time, patience and care. Alix works symbolically with sand tray, image-making and play in order to look beneath what might be presented on the surface, enabling the child or young person to understand more about themselves and perhaps help translate some of the things they might be struggling with.
Alix is particularly interested in the areas of developmental trauma, the impact of sexual abuse and working with young people around boundaries and consent, as well as working with those who have sexually harmed others. Alix also offers ecotherapy, and walking therapy, especially helpful to those who might struggle being in a therapy room or more 'traditional' aspects of therapy.
Alongside her work at The Therapeutic Consultants, Alix also works at Beacon House Trauma Team & Therapeutic Services who specialise in the field of adoption and the impact of developmental trauma. Alix has worked in schools for over 10 years providing one to one therapy, therapeutic groups, consultancy and reflective space for teachers and parents. Previously, Alix worked within an attachment-focused CAMHS team, as a School Project Manager for Place2Be and in a children's residential home. She set up a long-term therapy service for young people who had been raped or sexually abused and has worked directly with Social Care teams undertaking family assessments for court.
Alix is a huge advocate for child therapy and trains others at various adult therapy and child therapy training organisations in London. She is also a qualified Clinical Supervisor to child counsellors and child therapists.
