David Boor

Recognising the uniqueness of each client, Dave works flexibly and seeks to build a trusting relationship that in time supports a person to feel safe enough to explore aspects of their experience, both past and present, as well as their future aspirations. Working at an appropriate pace to bring awareness to underlying thoughts and feelings can help with understanding and integrating previously unrecognised aspects of the self and experience. Dave seeks to foster the growth of authenticity and to support those he works with in their journey towards more robust emotional well-being, cognitive functioning and with ultimately leading more fulfilling ways of living and relating.

Dave assesses and treats infants, children and young people with complex emotional, behavioural and mental health difficulties up to the age of 25, across a broad range of presentations. He provides long and short-term interventions, dependent on need as well as parent work and consultation and liaison with networks around a child as part of supporting them. He also offers supervision to other psychotherapists and counsellors.

Following 2 years of Infant Observation Studies at the Tavistock-Portman Clinic Dave completed 4 years training in Psychoanalytic Child & Adolescent Psychotherapy there. He spent sixteen years working in the NHS, including 3 years as a Group Worker in an adolescent psychiatric inpatient unit, prior to 13 years as a psychotherapist working with moderate to severe mental health presentations in Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). He currently spends part of his week as a senior Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist in a Hampshire CAMHS, where as part of the management team he is involved in service running and development.
