Irene Mburu

Irene is a qualified Integrative Child and Adolescent Counsellor. She works relationally and draws from different theoretical models, based on the needs of each individual client. She enjoys working with children and young people and is committed to delivering client-centred holistic support.

She provides a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space where thoughts and feelings can be explored. Her work is child-led which allows the client to use their preferred mode of engagement, either through talking, playing or other creative activities. This interaction helps her to understand the client’s internalised world and informs their working model. She strives to foster a good working alliance that facilitates trust and growth.

Irene has worked with a diverse range of clients in secondary and primary schools since 2018; supporting them work through social and relational issues, emotional regulation, depression, attachment, anxiety, anger, trauma, low self-esteem, gender dysphoria, and other life challenges. She has also worked with adult clients. In addition, she has served in several voluntary roles with children and young people for over 15 years.

She is currently completing a Master’s degree in Integrative Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy at Terapia, accredited by Middlesex University and validated by UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).
