Katy Wood

Integrative Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist

BA, MA, UKCP

Katy Wood

Katy is an Integrative Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist with several years’ experience of working with children, young people, parents and adults. Katy has a calm presence and, through relationship, aims to create a safe space where clients can process their experiences and difficulties at their own pace. Katy practices a client-led approach and uses a mixture of talk therapy and playful or creative interventions to support the client’s needs. She draws on a range of modalities and theories to encourage personal growth and exploration. Katy feels that working with parents and schools, where appropriate, can aid the child or young person in their therapeutic journey.

Katy has previously worked in a variety of childcare roles. She has worked with children therapeutically since 2018. Katy currently works as a Whole School Approach Therapeutic Lead both primary schools and secondary schools in Barnet. In this role, she supports trainee psychotherapists on placement, facilitates groupwork, offers reflective sessions for staff and parents and provides training workshops for staff with the aim of supporting a holistic therapeutic approach in each of the schools.

Qualifications

Katy has a BA in Psychology from the American University of Paris and an MA in Integrative Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy from Terapia, accredited by Middlesex University and the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapists (UKCP). Katy is in the process of completing her professional membership registration with UKCP.
