Lopa Winters

Dr Winters is a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist who works predominantly with a psychodynamic psychotherapeutic focus. She also has expertise working with young people and families using systemic psychotherapy and cognitive behavioural therapeutic techniques. Dr Winters’ has a background in Paediatrics and her areas of interest include (but are not limited to) the psychosocial impact of physical symptoms, pain or illnesses upon young people and their families. Dr Winters is also interested in cross-cultural psychiatry and working with black and minority ethnic groups.

Dr Winters has been actively involved in academic psychiatry and research both nationally and internationally, and and has been an Academic and Clinical Tutor for medical students at Oxford University.

Her child psychiatric experience includes; working with young people and adolescents in community and inpatient settings, working within a specialist complex neurodevelopment team to assess, diagnose and treat Autism and ADHD where there may be diagnostic uncertainty and working with children’s social care to provide therapeutic assessments and court reports and most recently working within a Paediatric Mental Health Team alongside hospital Paediatricians.
