Lucy Leon

Lucy is a Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist who trained at the Tavistock Clinic in London. She has worked clinically with children, young people and families for over 10 years and she is currently the Lead Child Psychotherapist in a specialist therapeutic educational unit run by the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust.
Lucy has extensive experience of therapeutic work with children and young people presenting with a wide range of social, emotional, mental health and behaviour difficulties. She has worked as a psychotherapist in primary and secondary schools as well as in community settings and the NHS. In these setting she has worked with children and young people with Autism, ADHD, Developmental Delay, Behavioural Difficulties; children and young people presenting with depression, social withdrawal, low self-esteem, underachieving, self-harming, with identity conflicts… as well as supporting their parents and carers.

Alongside her clinical work Lucy also teaches in graduate level courses, provides clinical supervision to students and is a tutor in the Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Doctoral Training at the Tavistock Centre.
Lucy has extensive experience and understanding of the factors that can hinder healthy progress and of the challenges faced by children and young people at different points in their development. At the core of her work lays the importance of forming sound partnerships with children, young people and families to arrive at a shared understanding that can promote growth.

In her clinical practice Lucy also draws from further training and experience in Group Analysis and her approach centres on an understanding of the individual, our relationship with others and society as a whole.
