Nikki Jecks

Integrative Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist

MA, BACP, UKCP

Nikki Jecks

Nikki is an integrative child psychotherapist. She works with young children, teenagers and their families. Talking about "feelings" can be daunting, so she works collaboratively and creatively to help children find ways to communicate that feels natural and authentic. This may involve talking but when that doesn’t feel right, she draws on a variety of therapeutic tools including creative arts and expression, sand tray, mindfulness, and somatic awareness to encourage and support young people in their efforts to develop a greater understanding of themselves and what might be troubling them. Nikki’s ultimate focus is to help young people develop a more secure, resilient sense of self and wellbeing by reconnecting with the parts of themselves or their history that they may have struggled to fully understand, accept or integrate.

As well as private work, Nikki also works in several inner-city primary and secondary schools in London, where she provides therapeutic and counselling support to children and families largely from ESL backgrounds. She previously worked in a residential care home for adolescents in East London, setting up their Art Therapy provision which provided support to high-risk and severely traumatised children and the residential staff working in the home.

Prior to retraining to become a psychotherapist, Nikki had a long and varied background in journalism and humanitarian work, including work for the United Nations in East Asia, working alongside victims of genocide in Cambodia.

Nikki’s aim is to build a strong therapeutic relationship to help children through whatever may be challenging them, and to find their own words and ways of understanding and making of sense of their experience.
