Sophie Latham

Sophie is a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist. She trained at The Tavistock Centre. She has been working clinically with children, young people and families for over 7 years. She has significant experience in working with children and young people with neurodiversity - particularly Autism and ADHD, as well as other neurodevelopmental disorders. She has worked in specialist NHS service for neurodevelopmental disorders, community CAMHS and eating disorders at NHS hospital.

Before training at The Tavistock Centre, Sophie qualified as early years teacher and taught in mainstream private and state special educational settings.

During her career Sophie gained significant experiences at working with children, young people and families with complex needs. She offers psychotherapy for wide range of emotional behaviour difficulties including anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties with peers and family, aggressive behaviour, tantrums, bereavement and loss, eating disorders and body image and appearance anxiety, self-harm, substance abuse and trauma.

Currently, Sophie works in private practice, teaches on graduate level course at The Tavistock Centre and is also undertaking doctoral research at The Tavistock Centre.

Her personal approach is flexible and led by the individual needs of the child, young person and family. She uses a range of resources and techniques that are informed by psychoanalytic understanding of the mind.
